Endorsement: Nehanda Imara for District 7

nehanda

Nehanda Imara brings savvy transportation policy expertise, deep East Oakland roots,  and fresh energy and ideas to the District 7 race. She’s a 30-year resident of East Oakland and has been an activist with Communities for a Better Environment for 10 years. Imara brings a strong focus on improving public safety to her campaign, and Transport Oakland is enthusiastic to endorse her for the District 7 seat.

Of the candidates we interviewed in this race, Imara’s answers indicated the savviest understanding of transportation issues. She spoke up in favor of improving walking and cycling conditions in District 7. She voiced her support for Oakland’s new Department of Transportation. She supported our platform priority to create a Transportation Commission. She even challenged us to incorporate goods movement as it relates to bicycle and pedestrian safety into our platform.

We believe she would be a strong voice for our vision of great Oakland transportation.

Thanks to the District 7 Endorsement committee led by Board Members Kenya Wheeler and Danielle Dai with volunteer support from Fred McWilliams and Nina Rizzo. Thank you!
